UK Releases

The Green Hornet

Studio – Original Film (Previous Release: The Bounty Hunter)
Director – Michel Gondry (Previous Work: Be Kind Rewind)

In a nutshell....

Britt Reid, a wealthy playboy, inherits his father, James Reid’s media company after the latter is killed because he always wished to fight crime. One of the company’s employees, Kato, is also a kung fu expert, and helps Britt take up the challenge of finishing crime from the city. The two decide to do it together to protect the law by breaking it, and their ultimate aim is to bring down the Russian mafia, Chudnofsky.

The Green Hornet, based on a successful comic character, has a nice star cast and great appeal to it. The film’s going to be a full entertainer with girls, guns and fun and seems to be a big money churner already. I’m waiting to see how this hero, with no super powers, brings the mafia down.

Henry’s Crime

Studio – Company Films, Firstar Films (Debut, UK Debut)
Director – Malcom Venville (Previous Work: 44 Inch Chest)

This film seems to be a nice little entertainer with some fun, little humour and romance. The plot is appealing and the trailer suggests it can be given a try. However, such films have fallen flat on their faces in the past, but I hope Keanu Reeves pulls it off.

Yamla Pagla Deewana

Studio – Top Angle Productions (Previous Release: Nanhe Jaisalmer: A Dream Come True)
Director – Samir Karnik (Previous Work: Nanhe Jaisalmer: A Dream Come True)

In a nutshell....

The happy go lucky duo of father and son, Dharam and Gajodhar, does the perfect con jobs in Banaras until one day Paramveer, an NRI from Vancouver, comes to Banaras claiming that he is Gajodhar’s brother and they’d been separated in childhood. The duo willingly accepts Paramveer into their fold only to exploit his muscle power to serve their con games. Gajodhar later makes a plan to help Paramveer to win his girlfriend back from the clutches of her orthodox family. What follows is madness and confusion.

The most important thing in this film is the star power of the father and his sons. This film, no doubt, promises a lot in terms of fun and entertainment, and there have been a lot of promotions going on. Samir Karnik hasn’t got a good record to boast of; however this time it seems the tables are going to turn.
