UK Releases

Paul (Advance Screenings from 15th Feb)

Studios – Relativity Media, Working Title Films, Big Talk Productions
(Previous Film: Sanctum, Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang, Scott Pilgrim vs.The World)
Director - Gregg Mottola (Previous Film: Adventureland)

In a nutshell....

Clive and Graeme, two British geeks, set out on a trip across America. Paul, an alien, who has been living at a military base for the past 60 years, decides to escape the place by hopping onto the first vehicle he sees. Fortunately, or otherwise, it's Clive and Graeme's car he hops onto. Amongst the chaos of the federal agents chasing them, and the father of a young woman whom they accidentally kidnapped, wanting to kill them, the two geeks help Paul find his mothership.

Paul has an unlikely combination of aliens and comedy with the superb duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who both rocked in Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead. Besides, Gregg Mottola has a great record of making funny films which have geeks as in the lead. Plus, Seth Rogen's voice for Paul makes it even more exciting. This film has a nice star cast which should help it get a great opening at the box office. And, with so much to offer, Paul will certainly do wonders on planet earth.

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (Advance Screenings from 16th Feb)

Studios – Regency Enterprises, Twentieth Century Fox Film Croporation
(Previous Film: Love And Other Drugs, Gulliver's Travels)
Director - John Whitesell (Previous Film: Deck The Halls)

In a nutshell....

FBI agent Malcom Turner's 17 year old stepson, Trent, witnesses a murder. The father and son duo go undercover, dressed as Big Momma and Charmaine, at an all girls performing arts school to hunt down the murderer, and keep the son away from trouble.

The Big Momma's House franchise has been hilarious and fun to watch. Sure one cannot expect these films to be cinematic treats but they have their own taste that satiates the cinema goers in a different way. Full of entertainment, Big Mommas: Like Father, Likes Son sure seems to be fun, as this time around there are two females out there. Certainly a must watch for the franchise fans.

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Studios – Insurge Pictures (Debut), Island Def Jam Music Group, Magical Elves (Theatrical Debut) Productions (US Theatrical Debut)
MTV Films, AEG Live (Previous Film: Jackass 3D, Phish 3D)
Director - Jon Chu (Previous Film: Step Up 3D)

In a nutshell....

Never Say Never follows the life of the 16 year old pop star who rose to fame with his Youtube video. The documentary follows Bieber on tour, has some star interviews about Bieber and how he never gave up.

An excellent opportunity for those who thought Justin Bieber was a girl, to know how the young kid started off and rose to fame, without giving up. There's something in him which has made him a teenage sensation and a favourite with girls. After Step Up 3D, with his love for films based on music, Jon Chu brings another film in 3D. Never Say Never should be a huge hit considering the boy wonder's (or the girl wonder, as many believe) fan following across the globe. I gave a 3.5 for Anticipation in my US preview last week, but considering the reviews ridiculing this film I guess this one might be a dud. However it wouldn't stop Bieber fans from watching it.

In a nutshell....

Inside Job is a documentary that analyses the global financial crisis of 2008, which cost over $20 trillion, caused millions of jobless and homeless people in the worst recession since the Great Depression, which nearly collapsed the global economy. It was shot on location in The United States, Iceland, France, England, Singapore and China, and includes insights from key financial insiders, politicians, journalists and academicians.

Nominated for Oscars, Inside Job is a must watch for everyone as it is about something that affected everybody living on the face of earth in some or the other way. It's got awesome reviews at Cannes, New York and Toronto film festivals. The insights are elaborate and shocking.
