US Releases

Thor

StudioParamount Pictures (Previous Film: No Strings Attached)
Director - Kenneth Branagh (Previous Film: Sleuth)

In a nutshell....

Thor is a powerful but arrogant God from Asgard. He is cast out of the realm and sent to earth to live with humans. He soon becomes the their defender and saviour.

So now we meet the second hero from the Avengers. This mighty God is one of the best Avengers, and perhaps the only one to have such supernatural powers. Chris Hemsworth's casting was a huge doubt in my mind but ever since I watched the trailer it just disappeared. I'm excited to watch this one especially because Thor is a multidimensional character and somebody with the experience and the goodness of Kenneth Branagh will know how to deal with it. The 3D will add to the whole experience and this film will do wonders on the box office especially because it leads to Avengers.

Director - Mike Disa (Debut)

In a nutshell....

Red is in training with the mysterious group known as the Sister Hoods, at a distant land. Red, along with Wolf, must investigate the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel.

Funny, hilarious, cute and entertaining are the words that first came to my mind when I watched the trailer of this film. I haven't seen the first film yet but know that it was successful and liked by people of all ages. I'm very eager to watch Hoodwinked Too! Fast Five

Studio
– Universal Pictures
(Previous Film: Your Highness)
Director - Justin Lin (Previous Film: Fast & Furious)

In a nutshell....

As ex-cop Brian O'Conner and conman Dominic Toretto assemble an elite team of top racers to carry out their last job in Rio De Janeiro, a corrupt businessman wants them dead. Also, the hard-nosed federal agent, Luke Hobbs, wants them behind bars. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns that he can't separate the good guys from the bad and now has to rely on his instincts to corner his prey.

More excitement, more thrills, more drama, more action and more adventure is what this fifth instalment of the Fast & Furious series has in store for its most ardent fans. Justin Lin brought a fresh vision to this series when he directed Tokyo Drift. Since then the films have got better in terms of entertainment and style. With Fast Five, the telling takes another step towards advancement in all arenas of filmmaking, especially the shot taking. Excellent cinematography, a power packed star cast and exotic Brazilian locations will definitely pull huge crowds to the cinema halls across the globe. This film is going to see, without a shred of doubt, a marvellous opening as it got a mind blowing response in the UK.

Dylan Dog - Dead Of Night

StudioPlatinum Studios (Debut)
Director - Kevin Munroe (Previous Film: TMNT)

In a nutshell....

Dylan Dog is an ace detective who specialises in paranormal cases. He must deal with vampires, werewolves, zombies and a guardian of hell, all due to his client, Elizabeth. With the support of his assistant, Marcus Adams, he has to persevere for the sake of the Earth.

Weird creatures surrounding the handsome hunk, Routh, who is trying to save the world with his theatrics and antics. Sounds fun! So does it look to be. It's a strange thing that the actor hasn't enjoyed as much success as he should have, ever since the release of his Superman film. Dylan Dog is based on a popular comic book series which makes it worth awaiting. It is different, interesting and the mix of genres is just right to have a fun filled weekend. Not brilliant cinema by any means but it does seem to have enough to make it an engaging watch. I hope t does well for Routhm, and the makers, especially because they're promoting the film claiming their past successes.

Prom

StudioWalt Disney Pictures (Previous Film: TRON:Legacy)
Director - Joe Nussbaum (Previous Film: Sydney White)

In a nutshell....

Nova Prescott finds herself drawn to Jesse who comes in the way of her perfect prom. Several other seniors come together for this most anticipated night as they look forward to enjoy it among insecurities, and building and breaking relationships.

We've seen so many prom movies, some good, some bad and some which the makers regretted making. This topic's done to death, and Prom seems to belong to the latter categories. I know it's got Disney's backing but the director has a past of making average candy floss films. Thhus one cannot expect a lot from this one. Besides, it looks very video-for-television like, and the cast in as unknown as 007's past, which is why I think there's nothing great about this film for which one should go to the cinemas.

Runtime - Unknown
Genre - Comedy/Drama
Rated - PG

Principal Cast
